02/15/2012 - Montreal, QC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tyler Seguin scored the winner in the shootout as Boston took a 4-3 win over Montreal at Bell Centre.
Boston had blown a two-goal lead in the third, but Seguin scored on the second chance of the shootout when he blew a wrister past Carey Price.
Tim Thomas then stopped Lars Eller's wrister with his blocker to give the Bruins their third win in the past five games.
Andrew Ference, Patrice Bergeron and Benoit Pouliot all scored for Boston, which took four of six from Montreal this season. Thomas stopped 26 shots in the win.
"I've been lucky so far in shootouts but I'll take it," said Thomas. "It was a bit more passionate game that we played tonight. We brought the effort with team energy and part of that was how Montreal came at us."
Erik Cole had a goal and an assist while Max Pacioretty and Mathieu Darche both scored for the Canadiens, who have lost their past two. Price made 31 stops.
"I'm sorry to say, when we don't come out with two points at this time of the year, it's so frustrating," said Pacioretty. "We know we could have gotten two points because of the way we played in the third. We can't let games like that go because of our situation."
Boston held a 3-1 lead going into the third, but the Canadiens made it a one- goal game just 3:34 in when Pacioretty's one-timer from the slot trickled behind Thomas.
Zdeno Chara's miscue led directly to Montreal tying the game. The big defenseman held the puck near his left circle and used a lazy pass to try and get it over to the right, but Cole was there for the easy pickoff and he switched to the backhand before putting it past Thomas with 8:48 to play in the third.
The Bruins scored late in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. A blind backhand clear by a Montreal player behind his own net was picked up by Ference, who flung a wrister on net from the right circle that beat Price to the shortside with 2:51 remaining.
Montreal tied the game while shorthanded 99 seconds into the second as P.K. Subban skated down the right wing and from down low centered the disc for a redirect by Darche.
The Bruins, though, took the lead back at the 5:07 mark of the second as Pouliot skated in with a defender in front, and made a sharp move to get around him and snapped a wrist shot in from the slot.
Skating on the man advantage, Boston took a two-goal lead when Seguin sent a pass from the left point to the side of the net where Bergeron was able to put the puck in off the right post with 5:27 left.

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.
The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.
MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.
Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
