BALTIMORE (AP) -Orioles right-hander Brad Bergesen has been temporarily removed from the starting rotation so he can provide help to an overworked bullpen.
The move was made in part because Baltimore has a day off Monday and partly because the Orioles used four relievers Friday night in an 11-0 loss to Boston.
Interim manager Juan Samuel said the Orioles will go with a four-man rotation until it comes time to use a fifth starter. At that point, Samuel will decide whether to return Bergesen to the rotation.
Bergesen says he's OK with the move, especially because he struggled in his last start, a 9-1 defeat to the New York Yankees on Wednesday.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
